‘Unbroken North’ is inspired by the untouched wilderness of Alaska, particularly the coastal approaches to Glacier Bay. As an Australian, I had never seen mountains on this scale. What struck me most was the sense of endlessness - behind each mountain rose another, larger again. From the water, the landscape felt uninterrupted, with peaks extending endlessly into the distance.

The painting is built through many layers with varying translucency. Through abstraction, the work explores ice, melt, cloud, and terrain shaped slowly by gravity and time. Forms accumulate and dissolve, reflecting both the immense age of the landscape and its ongoing transformation.
