Glacial Drift sounds like another “art w@nk” name like ‘Cosmic Drift’, but this is the actual the term for the phenomena of material moved and deposited by a glacier. It’s captures the slow movement of ice and water along the Alaskan coast. The painting reflects the quiet force of glaciers as they shape land and sea over time. Layers of colour and texture echo cold currents, shifting light, and the sense of constant, almost imperceptible motion. Emerging from the rock formations are wind-shaped, bonsai-like trees, including Sitka spruce, hemlock, and pine, clinging to shallow pockets of soil. Though small in stature, many of these trees are centuries old, their impressive age revealing a landscape shaped by patience, resilience, and deep time.

This exact glacial drift is modelled on a locally famous landmark in Sitka, Alaska.
