‘Fruit Stack in Glass Bowl’ is another work in the still life series where I’m interested in the contrast of abstract and realistic elements within the same painting. In this work, I have intentionally veered to the aesthetic of a traditional still life.
Undoubtedly, there is an enduring allure of traditional subjects in contemporary art, and at first glance, it may appear as a traditional still life, but upon closer examination, I hope to show the viewer a world of dynamic colours and fluid forms that defy the conventions of realism. The use of fluid acrylics lend a quality to the painting as if the fruit and the bowl exist in a state of perpetual transformation. (Kinda the opposite of “still” life).
