Next in the Bonsai series is this: a representation of a cascading Japanese maple. 'Cascading' is a one of the main desired shapes in Japanese bonsai, and simply means to grow across or down like water in a stream or waterfall. It was created with paint pours and paint skins, using a deliberate mix of mediums. Like all my work, I use nature (heat, gravity), and the nature of paint (surface tensions, viscosity) to mimic nature. I have always been drawn to bonsai, because they are a collaboration between us and nature to create art. Much the same as my way of painting in itself.
